You can also find alot of S&W99 guns around. Slightly different metal(stainless melonite coated vs carbon and tenifer) and the slide profle is a little different. Mags and backstraps interchange, as do most parts that are not part of the aesthetic differences

Awesome info! Thanks!
I'm trying to decipher exactly what she likes about what gun so I can try and poin her in the right direction ... it is a bit trying but I'm staying neutral and leaving it up to her.

EX:
My wife has shot my G29; she liked the way it felt in her hand but hated the recoil. I can understand that. With .38's loaded in the .357 she said it was tame and enjoyed shooting the GLOCK G19 more because it kicked more and felt more powerful. (time for some +P's!) I asked how the gun felt in her hand, how it pointed, and how the trigger felt and she said fine. When I ask the same question about the .357 I get the same answer. The only REAL information I got out of her was she liked the trigger on the GLOCK because it was easier to pull then the .357.

Knowing that the Walther p99qa has a similar action to GLOCK it might be worth a rental. Ehhh ... what do I know. Just got to go out and have her shoot until she says this is the one. Sorry for the rambling! Thanks for the info!

The P99 is nice because it resets to double action incase you need a second strike on the primer. The closest action to the Glock would be the Steyr though.

I think it's a good idea to let your wife try all the possible candidates. Don't forget the M&P. The changable back straps is a cool feature. If your wife is set on a Glock 19, and if the grip is a bit big, you can have a grip reduction performed on it.

Is she going to conceal it? Or is it a house gun?

Thats why I recommended the P99 and the Px4. They also have replaceable backstraps.

My wife has a third generation G19 with night sites and loves it. She also likes my Walther P99. Definitely go rent one.

Is this in reference to the P99QA or the P99DAO?

So far lots of options for her to try out ... now just to find a place that will rent them. They are far and few between.

Either one will double strike. Unlike the Glock and some others it doesn't require any slide movement to reset the trigger. Just pull the trigger again if the primer didn't ignite the first time.

P99AS is the one I reccomend to everyone. Its a lighter pull, resents to DA should you get a stubborn primer, and is the one I would by for myself.

Just to add more to the mix, I took a Ruger SR9 for a spin a few months ago. Quick impression: meh, but nice features.
