You now, Steyr Arms Inc is in the old H&K building in Trussville now. Maybe some of the H&K rubbed off?

Steyr Arms Inc: we'd rather you bought a Caracal or an MSAR. Because you suck and we don't care.

I never knew this before, but check out this weird series of connections.

First of all, Steyr Arms Inc (SAI), the US importer of Steyr, is also the exclusive importer for German gun brands Anschütz and Merkel [1]. Merkel itself is owned by Caracal, a small arms manufacturer based in the United Arab Emirates [2]. Caracal also owns HK Sport, the sport and hunting side of Heckler und Koch [3], [4]. Got all that? Cool.

So in the USA, SAI has the exclusive gig for Steyr, Anschütz and Merkel. All but Steyr out of those three brands are controlled by the Emirati corporation known as Caracal.

Caracal has their own pistol, too, designed by the very same Willi Bubits that created the original Steyr M and S series of pistols. Waffen Werks out of Knoxville Tennessee cleared a BATF Form 6 and has imported their own batch of Caracal pistols. I do not know what if any relationship Waffen Werks has with SAI. Waffen Werks has set up a web site at http://www.caracalusa.com/ to promote their Caracals, but it's blank as of today.

It also allows any issues to come to light before you get one.

you'd think Steyr would have a vested interest in having an importer that gave a crap about selling product.

I wonder what it takes to become the Steyr importer to america?
