Hi,
New to the forum here, so I think it's only polite to introduce myself: My nickname is -Twilight, I'm a 32-year old gun enthusiast from Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Been shooting a couple of years now, and for the last year and a half I'm also a volunteer firearms instructor at the local range here. Real nice to see the progression of the students after a couple of lessons, although there is a downside when they start beating me in competition I shoot with the following hardware: H&K P30L in 9mm, Walther GSP in .22LR with a rifle conversion kit and a Colt 1911A1 MKIV, .45 Since regulations here limit the number of firearms one could have to 5, I'm contemplating my final 2 investments. Pretty sure there's going to be an AR-15 next, although I'm not yet sure about the brand and style. Hoping to read as much I can about them here. For the last one, perhaps an "antique" like a Luger or something, not sure yet. Open to suggestions though |

A P08 Luger or a Walther P38 would be good.

Not to keen about the P38 though.. Don't really like the looks of it. There's one gun I'd give my right arm away to own - southpaw, so I could still use it -, my grandfathers side arm during WW2. He was in the only Dutch regiment active after the surrender, the "Prinses Irene Brigade", stationed in the UK. I found his side arm when he died, but was too young to recall which type it was. Unfortunately, the general perception about handguns here is that hell and damnation will fall upon everyone touching one, so my uncle brought it to the police and gave it up for destruction. Every time I shave now I've got the distinct feeling I'm using part of my heritage as a shaving tool |

Welcome -Twilight,
Man, you guys have a 5 gun limit? What's the point of that? The more guns you have the more people you can kill? I can't imagine someone using more than 2-3 firearms max, but 5? Why would they limit it in the first place? Sounds pretty weak to say the least. I don't know what would have if I only could own 5... Glock 21, 1911, AK-47, M1A, and between an AR-15 or a shotgun... Hmmm, that'd be tough! Anyway, welcome to the board, we have some really smart people here who can answer just about ANY question... Adler (guy who posted above) can answer pretty much ANY question relating to firearms no matter how obscure or random... Kinda creepy actually, lol

Well, technically all guns are against the law, so you can't own any. However, if you can show you have a need for one, for instance if you've been a member of a sports shooting club for more then a year, you can get a permit for one. Then, after a year you can get a permit for the remaining 5. I know, gun laws are a bit FU around here. But hey, at least there is a possibility, lots of countries where all are illegal. |

Yeah, you're lucky that you can own any. Pity that guns are illegal all around Europe.

Welcome to the forum. Looks like you have a nice little collection there. As for what to add, I'd say Adler's dead on for his pistol recommendations. I'd really like to get me a Walther P38, but they're slim pickins in my neck of the woods.

I recommend starting with Spreewerk ones with the cqy/cqv stamping codes as they are the least collectible ones. Then go on to Byf 44 and AC44 stamped ones as they are the more common Mauser and Walther made ones.

But on the other hand, I'd also like to compete in the dynamic service rifle disciplines, so a pistol ammo carbine would be nice too...
Decisions, decisions... Thanks for the warm welcome! |
