On a seperate note, there's something I just realized: I don't see an option on any item on LMT's site to actually purchase it...

LMT's response to my query:

"In order to convert to a direct impingement 6.8 you need to buy the barrel, BCG and magazine. Then you are done. Do not remove the insert on the inside of the receiver that is there for both piston and DI parts.

Until we have a government contract that calls out SPC II chambers, we will continue to use our SPC or SAAMI chamber.

Our piston 6.8 product line should be released to the civilian market within about 14 to 20 weeks.

I am sorry but we have no plans at this time for a 308 piston product line.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns."

the mas49 and ag42 are true DI guns though without a proper "piston" iirc.

which trigger was inspired by garand?

Stoner copied Mel Johnson for the bolt, but Stoner also copied a lot of other features is what I was getting at.

Stoner admitted he was inspired by Garand for the trigger.

Copying is fine, hell Mr Kalashnikov did just that with obviously excellent results.

i didn't say copying was a problem. poorly was the important word.

as for triggers, afaik the original trigger is basically the same thing as a modern GI trigger, with its bottom sear. i dunno of any garand trigger like that.
