So the other day my Aunt was cleaning the old family home out that has been in the family since that side of my family came to this country in the 20's following WW1. Well on that side (fathers side) my grandfather fought for the US in the pacific in WW2. Anyways while cleaning the attic my aunt found what she called and told me was a "sword" that he brought back after being wounded and that she thought I should have it. Well I was hoping for an officer's samurai sword. Well it turns out it was not a sword, but a early Arisaka bayonet with its scabbard. It was and is still cool to get a piece of history like that.
Gotta love what turns up in old family attics

I will take some.
The C&R area is lightly used unfortunately. I find that the most interesting guns are all C&R, being over 50 years old.

Most of the issued "samurai" officer swords taken as war prizes in the pacific were massed produced units. Some higher ranking officers actually carried thier families real deal sword with them though.
My grandfather was a Marine 4/14th L Battery Artillery in the Pacific, landed on Tinian, Saipan and Okinawa. Im in the process of recovering what I can from him before his mind goes away. -chet |

that's a long ass bayonet! how much longer is that then the WWII U.S. issue bayonet? seems rather unwieldy at the end of a full size rifle.

Its about the same size as a 1907 Bayo used on the Winchester 1897 Trench Guns and the 1917 Enfield rifles. Its about 21 inches overall and the blade is about 16.5 inches.
I looked it up online and the markings are from an unknown maker that was under the Nagoya arsenal's supervision.
